M27 Vulpecula

Objects:             The planetary nebula M27.

Constellation:     Vulpecula

Coordinates of field center (J2000): 19h 59m 36; +22° 43'

Notes: This is the first light image from the remote observatory nearby Massa Marittima. At that time the two instruments, the TEC 140 by davide and mine ASA 10" were not properly aligned, so we coul image simultaneously only relatively small objects. This is a combination of RGB data from the ASA and TEC and narrowband data.

Telescope and camera: ASA 10', f 3.6; SBIG STL 11000. TEC 140 mm,

Exposure: Hα 56x30'; OIII 28x30'; R 15x10'; G 20x8'; B 18x10'. About 50 hrs total.

Date: A few nights on September 2011.

Software used: acquisition, CCDsoft, FocusMax, The Sky VI. Calibration; registration and stacking: CCDstack, Registar; processing: PixInsight 1.7, Photoshop CS3.

Processing notes: given that we had a fair amount of data we drizzled the sub frames. This allowed a reasonble improvment in resolution and the deconvolution worked better with the larger scale offered by the 2X drizzling. After deconvolution the star FWHM at the original scale was below 1.8 px, a fair improvment. During processing I aimed at showing off the interesting difference of the Hα and OIII channels expecially in the outer, very dim, shell.
