Objects: VdB 158 (reflection nebula) surrounds two bright stars within a long dust clouds.
Constellation: Andromeda and Cassiopeia
Coordinates of field center: 23h 39m +48° 51'
Notes:
VdB 158 is
a very faint reflection nebula enveloping two pretty bluish stars (spectral type
B8) that is part of a large dust complex revealed in this deep exposure.
In truth, dust can be detected almost
everywhere in the field. The tiny planetary nebula PK 110-12 1 lies somewhere in
the field. Find it!
Telescope and camera: ASA 10', f 3.6; SBIG STL 11000.
Exposure: L 36x8'; R, 18x10'; B 17x10'; G 16x8'. About 12.8 hrs total.
Date: 3 nights on 9, 10 and 19-09-10.
Software used: acquisition, CCDsoft, FocusMax, CCDcommander, The Sky VI. Calibration; registration and stacking: CCDstack, Registar; processing: PixInsight, Photoshop CS.
Processing notes: Like any other star filled field like this one, star protection has been a major issue. The dust clouds has an unusual richness of hues that I tried to enhance in this pretty deep shot.
