Reflection nebulae in Scorpius: VdB 102 and VdB 101

Objects:             An interesting association of dust curtains and reflection nebulae located at an impossible declination!

Constellation:     Scorpio

Coordinates of field center: RA 16h 22m DEC -20° 05'

Notes: the nebulae are bright but extremely poorly located, lost in the worst light dome that my suburban site offers. It took 9 night to put together enough data to attempt the RGB composition.

Telescope and camera: ASA 10', f 3.6; SBIG STL 11000.

Exposure: Luminance 21x8'; R, B 11x10'; G 10x8'. About 8 hrs total.

Date: 9 nights on 8-03-10, 9, 11, 13, 17, 21-04-10; 4,5,6-06-10.

Software used: acquisition, CCDsoft. Calibration; registration and stacking: CCDstack, Registar; processing: PixInsight, Photoshop CS.
