M108 - M97 Ursa Major

Objects:             A classical couple in Ursa Major: the galaxy M108 (NGC  left) and the planetary nebula M97

Constellation:     Ursa Major

Coordinates of field center: 14h 4m +53° 58'

Notes: Yet another field littered with faint galaxies. Check the high resolution wide field for a tiny but perfect face-on spiral.


Telescope and camera: ASA 10', f 3.6; SBIG STL 11000.

Exposure: Luminance 27x8'; R, B 11x10''; G 11x8". About 13 hrs total.

Date: 2 nights.  27-5-2009 and 7-4-2010.


Software used: acquisition, CCDsoft. Calibration; registration and stacking: CCDstack; processing: PixInsight, Photoshop CS.
